Are you interested in becoming a member of the Mid-Island StoryTellers (MIST)?
Traditional storytelling is an oral art form as opposed to a written one. Paper and notes are a barrier between the listener and the teller. We do not bring paper on the stage. We do not READ stories. We TELL stories.
Annual Membership to MIST is
only $10 per calendar year.
We welcome membership from both
storytellers and story listeners.
Here are the benefits of membership:
- Discounted admission to MIST performance events
- Tales events at the McMillan Arts Centre with be discounted from $22 to $20 for members.
- Slice of Life events at the McMillan Arts Centre will be discounted from $12 to $10 for members.
- Other storytelling events may be scheduled at other locations in the Parksville/Qualicum Beach area. Discounted admission will be available to members at those events.
- An invitation to join us for our monthly story circles -- either as a teller or a listener (admission included in membership). Admission for non-members is by donation.
- Discounted admission to MIST storytelling and story writing workshops
- We are planning an "Introduction to Personal Storytelling Workshop" in November 2022 and an Introduction to Storytelling Workshop sometime during this season.
- The opportunity to serve on the Board -- open to both storytellers and story listeners -- to help encourage storytelling in the Oceanside area
- $10 discount on a membership in the Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada (www.storytellers-conteurs.ca)
