If you are interested in telling a story at one of our "Slice of Life:  Dare to Share -- Real People, Real Stories" evenings, please submit your idea and information here.  It will be forwarded to the Story Committee responsible for that month.  We will be in touch with you as soon as decisions are made or to gather additional information from you.
Please note the following requirements:
  1. The story must be 10 minutes or less.
  2. The story may or may not be true.
  3. It can be a personal story, a literary story, a folk tale, an historical story -- whatever story you are interested in telling.
  4. You must tell (not read) your story.
  5. No props or sets permitted.
  6. There is a rehearsal before the event. The rehearsal lasts about 2 1/2 hours and is an opportunity to run through the stories, get feedback, and to meet the other storytellers.
If you are concerned about telling a story or being nervous telling your story, we have some tips for you.  We also offer coaching both before and after the rehearsal if you would like.  Click on the "TIPS" link for more information

If you are interested in telling one of your stories, send an e-mail to Susan at rootswings (at) shaw.ca.
Give your name, e-mail address, and in 50 words or less tell her what your story is about and in an additional few words, tell her about yourself.
If the jury selects your story to be told that evening, you will be asked to attend a rehearsal a week prior to the show.  You will also be offered coaching to help you with your story.
          Don't delay.
We have had many applications to tell at the Slice of Life and
we welcome yours.
